Dearest Daddy

My dearest Daddy, Each morning as we wake I see your smiling face, saying good morning to you, can I have a cup of coffee please. We sit each morning after a breakfast of eggs, potatoes and toast. The questions start to flow. Asking if his mother and father are gone. Telling me thank you for letting him stay the night. I used to try and explain that this is where he lives. But he would not remember an ask once more again. He doesn’t know I am his daughter most of the time, it broke my heart at first, but now I know when he smiles he is happy just to be here where he is loved and cherished. He is my daddy after all. The questions will go on all day the same questions over and over again. Yes it can get to be very hard day after day, but at least I still have him by my side. Daddy you will never read this, but that is alright. You are my hero and have been all my life. You picked me up when I was very small and held my hand so I would not fall. Your love was never failing and your heart as pure as gold. I love you Daddy more and more each day! Your Daughter, Melanie
